Position/Team Description

We are seeking an experienced software developer to join our Integration Technologies team, which leverages Modo’s exciting XModuleTM technology together with an innovative middleware framework to integrate third party products and services at a truly rapid pace.

As a senior member of the team, you will be responsible for leading development projects, determining sprint schedules, reviewing work of peers, and providing guidance for best practices. You will also act as a mentor to other developers on the team, provide technical expertise when evaluating new projects, and help lead architectural discussions.

Our team is a fun group of developers who frequently collaborate even while most projects are 1-2 person efforts-we rely on sharing many common problems and solutions to thrive at work. We are open minded, and opportunities to push the envelope will abound for motivated self-starters. At the same time, we regularly look to improve and enhance our development practices and are happy to hear new perspectives. We also frequently collaborate with a team of external developers with whom we are standardizing a variety of practices collectively.

Responsibilities

  • A primary lead for development projects.
  • Constantly challenge the status quo; always looking to improve code, process, and systems.
  • Develop framework-level features that make it easier to implement productized, web-services-based integrations, which use Node.JS and Amazon Web Services to connect a variety of third party services to Modo’s XModuleTM technology.
  • Identify and establish reusable patterns that our team can use to solve common integration problems.
  • Evaluate new technologies that we may want to leverage in our stack.
  • Perform code reviews and help lead architectural discussions.
  • Lead efforts to improve development practices and procedures.
  • Participate in the analysis of third party APIs during project estimation phases.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience providing mentorship and guidance to team members.
  • 7+ years in a collaborative software development role.
  • Significant experience with Node.JS; you have led projects using this framework.
  • Deep knowledge of Amazon Web Services (particularly AWS Lambda and other serverless offerings).
  • Git expertise.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Not afraid to try new things; present new ways of accomplishing development goals.  Tackle complex problems but also consider multiple solutions, weigh them, and decide on the best course of action.
